Festival Headliner Announced –  Appalachian Horror Fest announced today that storyteller Natalya Smith the 2023 Festival Headliner.  She is a young storyteller raised in the shadow of the Smoky Mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee. Stories were a part of her identity, and from early childhood, she spent much of her time reading folklore, fairy tales, and myths. She often heard wonderful storytellers at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

Fast forward to her teenage years when Natalya began telling stories. Over the years, she has told in libraries, schools, state parks, nursing homes, and anywhere else where a good story needs to be heard.

Natalya has also been able to study with the internationally renowned storyteller Shonaleigh Cumbers. She is currently in her last year of Shonaleigh Cumber’s intensive Walking the Wildwood course. This summer, she got the chance to meet and learn from the internationally renowned storyteller Liz Weir. She is excited to learn tales from every corner of the globe continually.

For Natalya, storytelling is a vocation, and she wants to lift up stories that need to be heard because everyone has a story that deserves to be shared.
